AO1(Marks out of 15)
IMPORTANT NOTES
The AO4 mark assesses the candidate’s ability to do the following: show awareness of genre; write in an appropriate style for audience and purpose; create a convincing sense of a character’s voice; choose appropriate information from the text in order to complete the task.
AO1 applies to this question solely in terms of the candidate’s accuracy of spelling, punctuation, grammar and expression.

Successful candidates:

• created a convincing sense of their character’s voice
• revealed sound knowledge of the text
• used significant details from the text
• produced sustained responses
• produced well expressed and technically accurate writing.
Less successful candidates:
• showed limited or patchy awareness of form/genre
• used language that was inappropriate for form or character
• showed limited awareness of characters’ attitudes
• revealed limited knowledge of the text
• copied extracts from the text
• revealed errors in understanding of the text
• produced very brief responses
• produced writing that contained technical errors and flaws in expression.

WRITING TASK
a) Imagine that while Stella is in hospital after having the baby, she writes an entry in her diary about how she feels about returning home to Stanley and Blanche. Write this diary entry in which Stella expresses her hopes and fears for the future.

Analysis of Streetcar
· Explore the change in control which takes place at the end of scene 2 between Stanley and Blanche. Make clear reference to character and relationship development, topic control, lexis and theme.
Read till end of play - WE WILL BE LOOKING AT OTHER AREA OF THE PLAY ON MONDAY
Write a scene between Mitch, Steve and Stanley that would fit between Scenes 2 and 3. Consider how they discuss Blanche.
All on the blog by Monday please.

Your Home Learning is to complete the research tasks set in the lesson - details of which are on the STREETCAR page

- Read the opening Scene including all stage directions and consider the question:
- Do all the characters speak in the same way? And if not how are they different?
Also
- Describe a soundscape which would be appropriate to the opening of the play.
- Tip: a soundscape is a collection of sounds which create an atmosphere.
- You are welcome to collect some sounds together and make a file using audacity or something similar and uploading it to your blog.
I am aware that some of you have exams on Monday and Thursday and I don't want you to fall behind so it is very important that you keep reading the play and attempting the tasks set.
The homework in these opening four weeks will be research based with the writing (essays and creative) taking place in class.
