The general thrust of the essay title is to explore the similarities and differences between Algy and Cecily with particular reference to their language, imagination and use of inversions.
Tip: don't expect them to be the same, rather spend time analysing what they say and do and how this generates humour.
Remember: start with word level and expand out to wider discussions.

Word level analysis means analysis that begins with the individual words, their meaning, their place in the sentence, their lexical relationships with other words around them. I want you to examine the text closely, like you might poetry and dissect the language. When you have deconstructed it you can then draw some conclusions about how Wilde is using language to create effects. You will also then be better prepared to attempt the same or similar task of writing in his style.
